A carved tree stands on your floor and holds your books. The trunk splits into spreading branches, and horizontal branch cradles between them hold rows of standing books at three different levels. At the tip of each outer branch sits a round mushroom cap platform for display objects. The tree carries your library in the middle and your favorite things around the edges.

This piece serves two jobs at once. The inner branches work like conventional bookshelf rails, angled slightly inward so books lean against the trunk and stay upright without bookends. The outer branches end in mushroom cap platforms where you place a potted Pilea, a carved fox, an owl figurine, a candle, a glass jar, or anything you want to see at a glance without pulling it from a row of books.

Our Vietnamese artisans carve every piece by hand from solid wood. The trunk, every branch, every book cradle, and every mushroom cap all come from the same material. The grain follows each branch from the trunk outward to the cap surface. The warm golden tone and swirling grain patterns are natural, finished with a clear protective coat.

Three tiers of book-holding branch cradles

The inner branches form V-shaped or Y-shaped cradles where books stand upright in rows. The lowest tier holds the widest row of books. The middle tier holds a slightly narrower row. The top tier holds a small group of books or a single leaning volume. Each cradle is deep enough for hardcover spines and wide enough for 8 to 12 books per tier. Total capacity across all tiers: roughly 30 to 40 books depending on spine thickness.

Seven mushroom cap platforms

Each outer branch ends in a round mushroom cap with a smooth flat top and hand-carved gill lines on the front-facing underside. The caps are positioned at varied heights around the tree silhouette, surrounding the book rows with a ring of display spots. The gill carving radiates from the branch tip outward to the cap rim in tight, even lines.

Sculpted tree trunk with root base

The trunk rises from a wide root base that spreads across the floor in two directions, keeping the tree stable without wall mounting. The root curves are smooth and flowing, shaped to look like a tree that has been growing in that spot for years. The trunk surface shows carved grain lines, knot details, and the natural taper of a real tree narrowing as it climbs.

Freestanding, no wall needed

The root base gives the tree enough floor contact to stand on its own. Place it against a wall in a living room, in the center of a reading nook, in a child's bedroom, in an office, or as a room divider where both sides are visible. The tree looks finished from every angle.

Custom sizing available

Every dimension of this tree is adjustable. Height, width, branch count, cap count, book cradle depth, wood species, and finish tone can all be changed to fit your room. If you want a 7-foot tree for a high ceiling or a compact 4-foot version for a nursery, contact our customer support team with your space dimensions and we will design it for you.

What sets this apart

Tree bookshelves exist. Mushroom cap shelves exist. A freestanding tree that combines book-holding branch cradles in the center with mushroom cap display platforms at every branch tip, all carved from solid wood with gill detail on each cap, does not exist from any other maker. This is a bookcase that belongs in the same conversation as sculpture.
